OUT NOW: Rick Penta’s “Dreams” b/w “For All of You”
Recorded in the wake of John Lennon’s death in 1980, Rick Penta’s Dreams finds the lifelong Beatles fanatic channeling grief, admiration, and the pursuit of his own musical ambitions. The title track is a soaring piano ballad built on shimmering synth melodies and dreamily phased vocals, evoking the emotional grandeur of Lennon’s “#9 Dream” while carrying the same tenderness and longing found in “Imagine.”
On the B-side, “For All of You” turns that reflection inward, pairing a stripped-back arrangement with a slow-burning build of guitar, synthesis, and brass. Together, the two songs capture Penta at his most heartfelt and expansive—an artist transforming personal loss and ambition into timeless, emotionally charged songwriting.
