Hannah Cohen pays tribute to the golden jubilee of Robert Lester Folsom’s “Music and Dreams” with a cover of the song that might be the Southern Georgia musician’s spiritual manifesto. Sepia-toned and light with that same 70s glow that illuminates the original, Cohen’s version sways with an easy Laurel Canyon breeze, flowing from one singer-songwriter to another. Cohen builds a looser funk undercurrent into the fabric of Folsom’s ballad, which, when accented with whispering flutes, twinkling keys, and her signature layered vocals creates a sun-dappled daydream all her own.
