Laurie Anderson and Anne Waldman will come together with Merrill Reed Weiner, Don Fleming, and Hal Willner to talk, reminisce and read aloud from Reed’s previously unheard poetry at the New York Public Library on May 22nd. Join us as Reed’s family and friends bring these rare pieces to life.
Brian Blomerth @ MoMA PS1
Join us in New York at MoMA PS1 for the zine release party of Xak’s Wax from Brooklyn illustrator, cartoonist, musician, podcaster, and vape juice entrepreneur Brian Blomerth! In this freeform “surf composition,” a dog named Xaks gets on his board and confronts the infinite. Marking the latest and most ambitious entry in Blomerth’s recent run of risograph zines, Xak’s Wax is a 24-page psychedelic odyssey in blue, red, black and gold.
The event will feature a visual expanded reading of the zine with narration by Brian, along with character voice work by artist and musician Kate Levitt (Drool, Teeth Mountain, and the Dan Deacon Ensemble). Drinks, tunes, and of course, copies of Xak’s Wax will all be flowing. Come say hi and help us welcome this wonderful zine into the world.
